The follow-up that happens before you leave the driveway

The short answer: Most quotes are lost to silence, not price. The working fix is structural: send the quote as a link the customer approves or declines from their own phone, and keep every open quote in one visible list with a follow-up step built in. When follow-up is part of the job record instead of your memory, quotes stop dying quietly.

Quotes die in a specific place

Ask any shop owner where quotes go to die and it is never "the customer said no." It is the three weeks of nothing after "I’ll think about it." You meant to follow up. So did the last three jobs. The quote is fine — the follow-up just never got scheduled into a day that had six other problems.

Approval without an account

The cleanest version we know: the quote goes out as a link the customer opens on their own phone — no login, no app — and they approve or decline with their name typed in. The decision lands on the job record immediately, signed and dated, so "approved Tuesday 7:42pm" replaces "I think they were going ahead." That is how JobCard does it, and it works because the customer never has to do anything hard.

However you send it, the principle holds: make saying yes effortless, and make the next step visible to yourself.

The list that replaces memory

Every open quote sits in one place with the days it has been waiting. Follow up from that list — call, text from your own phone, mark it won or lost — and the list updates. Won quotes convert straight to scheduled work. Lost ones close cleanly instead of haunting the board.

That is the whole trick, and it is not a trick: when the next step is visible and one tap away, it happens.
